Cromarty

So I’ve been absent for the past few days. Hopefully that didn’t ruin anybody’s life. šŸ˜‰

My reason for not posting is that I was at a small film festival in a small highland town called Cromarty. Where there was limited internet and phone service. Also, I didn’t really have tons of spare time while I was there.

In an attempt to make up for that, I will publish approximately three posts on the film festival. Because that will make everyone’s day, right? šŸ™‚

So, Cromarty:

If you’ve ever envisioned a quaint, idyllic Christmas village, what you were probably actually imagining was Cromarty. Let me illustrate:

And then, there was the food. This great restaurant (which was kinda the only one that wasn’t also a pub/hotel), had amazing wood-fired pizzas, and everything else there was delicious (so far as I tried). Included is the picture of sticky toffee pudding.

Also this delightful cheese shop!

And an old-fashioned bakery with delicious cakes and pies (Scottish type pies, not the Thanksgiving kind):

Then there was the absolutely incredible scenery:

Yes, that is a unicorn.

There were also several local artisan markets/shoppes, which were lovely and very fairly priced. I spent quite a bit there…but getting to talk to the actual artists and supporting a small local economy is a pure delight.

I highly, highlyĀ recommend Cromarty as a destination during your next trip to Scotland. The people are friendly, saying “hiya” to everyone passing in the street. If you want a calm getaway to reset your heart and mind, this little town on the edge of the world will do it for you.
